Each university in the Ivy League has several centuries of history, with seven existing before George Washington's presidency. Originally, the term "Ivy League" referred to an athletic conference comprising eight northeastern universities or colleges. For instance, the total annual cost for tuition, fees, and room and board at the University of Pennsylvania is estimated to be $92,288. Cornell University, Brown University, and Dartmouth College's tuition fees also exceed $91,000.
Each Ivy League university offers varying amounts of financial aid, with scholarships available for students excelling in arts, public service, sports, and other areas. Some universities also offer tuition waivers for financially challenged students, for example, Princeton University provides full tuition grants for students whose family income is below $100,000.
