With DSE results just around the corner, many Hong Kong students may soon be reconsidering their university plans, particularly if outcomes don’t meet expectations. UCAS Clearing 2025 offers a crucial second chance to secure a place at a UK university for September entry. Whether you’re anticipating your exam results, applied late, didn’t receive any offers, or fell short of conditional grades, Clearing provides a flexible pathway to pursue your academic goals in the UK. The Clearing period runs from 5 July to 20 October 2025.

G5 & Russell Group Universities: What Clearing Opportunities Are Available?
G5 Universities (Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, LSE, UCL):
- Oxford and Cambridge do not participate in Clearing
- UCL, Imperial, and LSE rarely offer places via Clearing, and if they do, it is for a very limited number of courses. Competition is intense, and places fill quickly
Other Russell Group Universities:
- Many Russell Group universities, such as Durham, Exeter, Bath, and Liverpool, participate in Clearing and offer a range of courses. However, places at the most competitive universities and for popular subjects (like Medicine) are extremely limited or unavailable
Clearing vacancies are updated daily. Visit universities websites, use the UCAS Clearing search tool or contact Grove Education for the latest information.
Universities Already Opening Their Clearing Vacancies
As of early July 2025, some leading universities have already announced their Clearing vacancies. Notably, King’s College London is actively participating in Clearing this year, offering a wide range of courses for both domestic and international students. Subjects available include Bioengineering, Natural Sciences, Philosophy, War Studies, and more. Entry requirements remain competitive, and places are limited, so early action is advised.
Other Russell Group universities, such as Durham, Exeter, Bath, and Liverpool, have also listed Clearing vacancies across various disciplines. However, vacancies at the most competitive universities and for high-demand subjects are extremely limited or may not be available at all. It is important to check the UCAS Clearing search tool and university websites frequently, as course availability can change rapidly.
